PAY YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY ON THE GO
Paym is designed to make everyone’s lives simpler. It’s the quick new way to pay your friends and family, with no fuss or hassle. It’s really simple – you can securely send and receive money using your mobile number, no sort codes or account numbers required.
Developed by the Payments Council (the people who ensure the UK’s payment services work) it uses the same strict security levels that are applied to existing bank account, online and mobile payment services. All you need is someone’s mobile number to make payments through your normal banking app. If they’re signed up to receive payments through Paym, you can pay money straight into their account.
As part of a wider Engine team, Calling worked with the Payments Council to create and launch this new and trustworthy way to pay. As part of the process, we also engaged with nine of the UK’s leading banks and building societies.
Our challenge was to come up with a brand positioning that would enhance not detract from each bank’s offering. Then to create a name that reflected the origins of the brand. It had to be professional, not too informal – exactly what you’d expect from the people who run the UK’s banking infrastructure. But it also had to deliver a feeling of speed, ease, trust and ubiquity, establishing a common language that everyone would understand. And so Paym was born. We positioned the service around five pillars – ease, security, reliability, reach and interoperability.
The visual identity brings the name to life, symbolising the ease and transparency of the service, and the movement of money between people.
