CHOOSE THE PATH LESS TRAVELLED

Kittitian Hill is the brainchild of social entrepreneur Val Kempadoo. Val is from Trinidad and had seen tourism in the Caribbean do more harm than good. He had a different – and radical – vision, to create a cultural and sustainable destination designed to inspire visitors while contributing to local communities and culture.

Kittitian Hill was designed to be an entirely different destination. It offers the most unparalleled hospitality through a luxurious hotel, villas and restaurants designed by award-winning architect Bill Bensley. Built in a sustainable way, set in 400 acres of organic tropical farmland with Belle Mont Farm at its heart and the world’s first edible golf course. It was created and built with local people, using traditional building materials and architecturally designed with a sympathetic eye for the local vernacular. Visitors can enjoy a variety of farm-to-table restaurants that serve locally foraged and harvested produce at The Kitchen, set high on the slopes of Mount Liamuiga. The result is an experience that immerses people into St Kitts’s culture.

BUILT ON FOUR PILLARS OF WELLBEING

Kittitian Hill is founded on the idea of sustainable wellbeing – a holistic philosophy that aims to improve the health and vitality of people, society, ecology and economy, so that they can live in long term harmony. It’s based on four pillars – personal, social, ecological and economic well-being. The aim is to create a balance of all four - a win-win for everyone involved.

A NEW CULTURAL HUB FOR THE CARIBBEAN

We worked with Val to develop the brand and to help him share his story with potential visitors and investors around the world. We created a proposition that doesn’t conform to established stereotypes of a Caribbean resort and sustainable tourism: a new cultural hub in the Caribbean.

To bring this all to life, we created a new name and identity for Kittitian Hill. We developed an approach to naming across the estate in a unique and evocative way. Belle Mont Farm’s luxury guesthouses are surrounded by a working sustainable farm; Irie Fields, is the world’s first cultivated and edible golf course. The next phase of villas will open in YaYa Groves, surrounded by bountiful fruit trees.

This approach was carried through to a series of films we made in collaboration with production company Human. These give a real insight into Val’s vision and bring Kittitian Hill’s sustainable story to life, through the people who built and run it.

A GROWING REPUTATION

Belle Mont Farm was featured in Condé Nast Traveller’s Hot List 2015, who described it as ‘a blast of fresh air for the region’.

“As an entrepreneur one has a clear vision that’s not always easy to share with others. Calling Brands helped me to capture and define that vision in a systemic and strategic way.”
